Night Skiing and TOP 9

Here are the newest illustrations for my Ski A-Z Book are for the letter ‘N’ along with my Top 9 ski illustrations from 2020.

I started painting ski icons after a great day skiing on January 2nd 2020, in Les 3 Vallees, France. I continued to create the work through the season and when it started to gain momentum I decided that the word would form an illustrated glossary of skiing The Ski A-Z. I hope to make the book a reality in 2021.

Here’s are the latest illustrations…

Night Skiing – slight play on words for this illustration. I thought about floodlit night skiing but skiing by torchlight is truly exhilarating.

Inspired by the amazing armour at Warwick Castle. Remembering a New Year’s Eve torchlight ski in Austria. Painted in watercolour and metallic inks.

Skiing by Torchlight – I created this digital piece whilst exploring the colours and light of torchlight skiing.

Nordic Skiing by Moonlight – Bringing together floodlight and Nordic skiing I imagine the crunch of the snow under the skis and the nocturnal wildlife visible in the moonlight.

2020 – It’s been a momentous year for my ski work, and it culminated in an exciting project that I have to keep under wraps for the time being. Follow my website to see the work.

Top 9 Ski – In the meantime here are the Top 9 Ski themed illustrations that I created in 2020.

There are many of us who aren’t able to get out on skis at present, hopefully the ski illustrations can help spark some good memories. Thanks for being here. To see all my ski illustrations pop ‘Ski’ in the search box on my website.

Thanks so much for being here. My latest posts follow.

Tennis Club Promotional Work Highlights

Reflecting on a great tennis season.

Michael Mason, Chairman of Ridgeway Tennis Club, said, “Our membership numbers have increased this year which is good news and is mainly due to the two Open Mornings we held. Subscriptions were up on the previous year.

“The publicity for both of these Open Mornings differed from our previous publicity drives in that much more use of social media was made and for this we have Kim to thank for both her creative abilities in producing some eye-catching posts on Facebook etc. as well as A4 posters to put up around the area, so I thank her very much for that and the time she has spent doing the publicity. It has made a real difference.   I hope that the new members enjoyed their first summer of tennis.”

Here are the highlights including social media visual content, promotional communications and posters.

The objectives may were to attract new members and to improve existing member communication and engagement. A new Facebook page, a members’ Facebook group and sharing visual promotional content on local community Facebook pages achieved the objectives.

“I have no hesitation in recommending Kim for her promotional work involving Ridgeway Tennis Club. The social media presence and membership involvement has increased by a significant margin.
Very impressive.” Alan Firth, Ridgeway Tennis Club.

Identifying the club’s key messages at the outset of the work, setting a limited colour palette and visual identity for the clubs poster sites and Facebook page established a brand identity, atmosphere and clear top line information for the public, new and established members.

Event promotion through Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, using still content and gifs increased local awareness of the club and boosted attendance, adding value for members and bringing new income through the additional membership fees – which allow the club to offer tennis coaching to children in the local community at accessible prices.

Courtside poster sites were fully utilised with posters stating the club’s membership benefits, timetable, coaching programme and key events. Maintained and updated through the season.

Member testimonials with creative photography were used to support the club’s key messages.

Illustrated Map

The brief was to create a 5×7 illustrated map for Rother Valley Country Park in Sheffield.

The country park has a great range of activities so I enjoyed sketching those, keeping to a consistent style by using the same pens and techniques throughout.

I hand painted the background and water then brought all the elements together in Pixelmator app. Allowing for my drawings to become tiny icons on the map.

With a compass and legend the map was completed and is ready to promote the park as a promotional postcard.

I’m pleased with the map and it quickly shows what’s on offer at the park. Rother Valley is a great place and as the card says is fun for all. Check the website for more details of access and opening times.
