Brand Art – Steel Company

Using my marketing and PR background I’ve been working on communications and brand work for Lancashire and Yorkshire based Steel Stockholders K Steels.

Keen to increase awareness and attract new customers and communicate with existing customers I assisted with liaison for a brand new website and new logos, created with Alpha State and US2DESIGN respectively.

I shot and edited two short videos to illustrate the business succinctly.

K Steels Video

Then using photography, hand drawn and digitally created methods I illustrated key facts of the business. Creating an Infographic for use in social media.

Here are the two Infographic versions – one for each of the warehouse sites.

I then made the infographic into an infographic video, to demonstrate the key aspects of the business in less than 1 minute. Click on the above link to watch it on YouTube.

The work is part of activity to celebrate two landmark anniversaries, 40 years at the K Steels Lancashire warehouse and 30 years of The warehouse of K Steels Yorkshire. Here are the commemorative icons that I created.

This format and the images and logo were then used for the new stock guide book design.

Sheffield Flag & Souvenir

Sheffield Souvenir & Flag

Here’s my latest undertaking, this is the write up from the design sheet…my first Inspire by Kim clothing items.

My ‘Forged in Sheffield’ flag design features a repeat pattern created in textured paper representing key Sheffield landmarks and it’s steel and cutlery heritage.

The design is in response to a call out for designs from Made North for Sheffield Design Week.

Digital or screen printing would be used to create the flags. The flag graphic could be created in a range of colours to represent the vibrancy of the city and its people.

The pattern design can be used in a portrait or landscape format and the strap line can be displayed vertically or horizontally. The pattern emerged whilst I was working under the guidance from Jessica Swifts’s Pattern Camp

There is the potential to use flag graphic as a brand identity for the city and to be used on a range of clothing and souvenir gift items. I mocked up some items with the design to demonstrate how it could be used.

Here are the pictures.

Based on feedback I plan to create a run of t-shirts and bags. Watch this space.
